With 23 years of experience as an art educator, she has taught individuals aged 3 to 90, firmly believing that there is an art form for everyone, centered on the experience itself. Sara holds a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts from Saint Edwards University and has completed graduate coursework in School Psychology at Texas Christian University. For the past decade, she has developed and designed therapeutic art experiences for a variety of populations in Fort Worth. Her current projects include a mindfulness art curriculum for teens experiencing depression and a strengths-based art curriculum for adults experiencing Down’s Syndrome. She has contributed articles to Art Education, The Journal of the National Art Education Association, National Arts Policy Review, and Art Therapy: The Journal of the American Art Therapy Association. Her primary focus as an administrator and educator is to foster the students' spiritual, social, and emotional lives in her care. Before moving to Texas, her Master of Pastoral Studies from Loyola University, Chicago, prepared her to serve as the Director of the University Ministry at Dominican University in River Forest, Illinois. Her Bachelor of Fine Arts, studies in Dance Movement Therapy, Pat B. Allen’s Open Studio process, and Soul Collage facilitator training inform her personal and collective art-making experiences.
